Alone we are born

And die alone;

Yet see the red-gold cirrus

Over snow-mountain shine.

Upon the upland road

Ride easy, stranger:

Surrender to the sky

Your heart of anger

The poem was set in the high country Mountains.We can tell things because when he says

“Yet see the red-gold cirrus Over snow-mountain shine” he is meaning the clouds sit over the snowy mountains.The story is told is third person. Also their a colloquial language in this poem, this poem is unique to nz language meaning it is not to formal.This story has alot of metaphors

  1. Fergus, you now need to write up the analysis of your poem in to a paragraph. Note the language features and their effect – why has the poet used these techniques? What is the theme/message you get from the poem?
